Kenya Head Swap

The day has finally come for me to swap the head on one of my Kenya dolls.  I want to thank all of the bloggers who warned me that removing Kenya's head would be a difficult task.  And thank you to Limbe Dolls and Miss_Lola_77 for posting photos of headless Kenya, so I knew what to expect.

Prior to the head removal, I warmed Kenya's head with a hair dryer for about 60 seconds.  Then I tried just tugging the head off, but that did not work.  I got a small screw driver (the size that's used for watches or eye glasses) and felt around until I found one side of that hook thing.  I carefully guided Kenya's head over that, and did the same for the other side.  I also used the screwdriver to guide Kenya's head over the second set of hooks.  It took me about 5 minutes to remove her had, and I did not damage her head or her body.

Here are Beverly Hills Kenya and On Location: Milan Barbie with their heads swapped.

Milan Barbie wants to show off some of her new posing abilities.

Not to be outdone, Kenya shows one of her few moves.

Milan Barbie has the last laugh, as she can sit while Kenya no longer can with her Model Muse body.

  1. They both look great. Kenya doesn't seem to mind gaining height and Milan seems to enjoy her ability to move.

  2. Lol @ BDE (weight gaining)!

Both dolls look cute! : ) I may have to go this route as well. I have not been able to locate another SIS Chandra for body swap. I will be happy when Mattel releases them in hoards and stop playing with the market.

    1. Thank you Georgia Girl! I hope you're able to find some more Chandras, or that the Kenya bodies are a good alternative for you.

  3. Congrats on getting the head off with no damage! I didn't have the patience to pry gently and one of my kenyas paid the price. Swap looks great!

    1. Same thing happened to me Miss_Lola_77 -- no patience ended in disaster or near disaster.

I should have warmed the head first like Roxanne.

  5. Great head swap. You must have been very gentle and patient to achieve it without damage as that hook attachment looks potentially lethal. Does it alter the way the Barbie head moves on her new body?

    1. Thank you, Carrickters! Yes, that hook is no joke. Barbie's head on Kenya's body fits a little bit loosely (which is weird since Kenya's neck is fatter). The head does not wobble, and it has a full range of motion. Kenya's head on Barbie's body fits perfectly, and has an even better range of motion than on Kenya's body (she can look up and down with no problem).

    1. Thank you, D7ana! Yes, I was pleased with the complexion match. :) Milan Barbie has waited a long time for a good articulated body.
