Happy Easter, Everyone! This is not an Easter themed post, but feel free to check out my Easter Parade video from last year.
Here is my next group of fashion dolls for comparison. They are posed similarly to my previous comparisons. They are from left to right: Winx Club Layla, Howleen Wolf, Isla head on Clawdeen Wolf body, V.I.P. A.N.T. Farm Chyna, Fashion Royalty Monsieur Z. Wild, and Dance 'N Flex Christie.
None of them can stand on their own. Layla has bendy arms and legs, and Christie is entirely bendy. The rest are articulated.
They can all cross their arms somewhat. They all have high-heeled feet. Monsieur Z. Wild and Christie can share shoes.
Here they are doing a side stretch. Layla, Howleen, and the Clawdeen Wolf body do not have torso articulation. Chyna and Monsieur Z. Wild have upper torso articulation and do a decent job of stretching to the side. Christie with her bendy torso does this better than all of them.
Here they are "walking like an Egyptian". Chyna has no wrist articulation and Layla can not bend at the wrist.
Here they are doing kneeling back bends. Christie can arch her back quite a bit.
Here they are showing off their hands. All of them have weird hands that are not useful for holding objects.
Here they are attempting to sit cross-legged. Christie comes the closest, but it looks like I tried to tie her legs in a knot.
Here they are doing front splits. The Wolf sisters do this the best.
Here they are doing a leg lift. The Wolf sisters and Monsieur Z. Wild do this the best.
Here they are seated. Layla can cross her legs, but she has issues with sitting straight up. I think that Christie does the best job of crossing her legs.
Do you prefer bendy dolls or articulated dolls? Do you have a favorite among these dolls? Which ones look the best in their poses?
Hello from Spain: beautiful pictures and interesting exercises. wow, wow ... I like dolls with articulated body. I think my favorite is the articulated body of Barbies fashionistas. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marta! Dolls with articulation are so much more fun to pose.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on what you want them to be doing. I think Christie bends the best and Layla is the worse all around. I use 1:12 dolls and the bendy ones are horrible. I have some articulated ones, but they are so expensive!
ReplyDeleteSo again I guess it is what you want to do with them that determines how affective their bending is.
Thanks for showing this!
Hi The Grandmommy, thanks for your comments. I like the way that Christie's torso bends, but not her arms and legs. She is fun to pose, though.
DeleteI prefer articulated over bendy, but in some positions I see that bendy has more range.
ReplyDeleteClawdeen and Chyna perform the best arm up at elbow position.
Christie does the best side bend.
Monsieur Z walks like an Egyptian the best.
Monsieur Z and Christie do the best arching back.
Chyna wins at crossed leg seating on floor.
Monsieur Z does a better middle split.
Christie does the best job of crossing her legs when seated in a chair, but I don't like the flatness that results when her arms are legs are fully bent.
Great comparison!

Thanks, Debbie! I was surprised at how good Christie looks with her legs crossed. Generally, her arms and legs look funny to me when bent. I'm not even going to talk about her pancake hands.
DeleteLOL@ Christie's pancake hands... poor Christie!

The various bodies make for great play. I love the body of Mon Z doll the best. This particular body is just too expensive to duplicate. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Georgia Girl! I agree, I love having various bodies, and there's something that I like about each one.
DeleteI am feeling the bendy Christie, but I like most all of these for various reasons.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa! Each one has qualities that I like, also. I didn't really show it, but Christie's neck is bendy, as well. I wish that her arms and legs looked better when bent.
DeleteThe bendy Christie crosses her legs to well when she sits. However, the way the Clawdeen doll sits reminds me of the way some charm books said ladies should sit when they crossed their legs. And Layla looks like she is sleeping on Howleen's shoulder. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrickters! I just could not get Layla to sit up straight in that chair. Maybe I would've had more luck if I'd put her on the couch.
DeleteI prefer the articulated over the bendy. I like that Christie can cross her legs the best.
ReplyDeleteThank you MDW! I prefer the articulated dolls, also. But it's nice to have a variety.
DeleteHehehe, it's so sad that the Dance and Flex girl is not the most poseable XD I prefer articulated bodies, but not bendy, rubbery ones with wire in them... they always end up bending badly... so they look like Harry Potter when the bones in his arm got removed. -_-
ReplyDeleteLOL Heather - I have not seen Harry Potter, so I had to go do a Google image search for "Harry Potter boneless arm". That's a pretty good description of what Christie's arms look like. Thanks for your comments!
DeleteLike DBG, I prefer articulated over bendy. They are easier to dress and less likely to get tatty as they age. The bendy ones lose the bend ability, too.
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you have Howleen. She is sooo cute! Congratulations on nabbing her.
My Monsieur Z. Wild was out earlier today - I started taking photos of her and Jade to compare the size of their heads. Mlle Z Wild is some poser ;-D
Thanks for sharing!
Hi D7ana, I agree with your assessment of the bendy bodies. They are also dust and lint magnets! I get a little nervous when posting high resolution photos of the bendies. :) Yes, I'm enjoying Howleen, so much so that her sister Clawdeen is going to get her original body back, so that Howleen, Clawdeen, and Clawd can be a family again. I'm going to leave them intact (for now). Can't wait to see your Monsieur Z Wild photos!
DeleteI cracked UP! on the "walk like an Egyptian pics!
ReplyDelete:) Thanks Anonymous!
