I despise going to the Post Office so much that I will sometimes keep dolls with flaws. Some things can be overlooked. When I opened my Triad Alpha and I saw her rough left elbow, I thought to myself "I can live with that."
Then, I saw the split on the right side of her neck, and I was rather irritated. "Oh well," I thought, "At least she has long hair." I was actually going to try to overlook that. You just don't understand how much I despise going to the Post Office.
I was posing her and having a jolly good time, until it came time to sit her down. Her left leg just popped right off. "Okay..." I said to myself, "she has modular limbs. She comes apart. Just pop the thing back on." I popped her leg back on and it popped right back off again. The leg will not stay on. I have in my possession an ACTION FIGURE that can not sit down! And THAT I cannot bear. Sheesh, even my Otaku can sit down without falling apart!
So I will be making a trip to the Post Office soon so that I can return this doll. I am not happy.
But hey, other than that, she's a great figure. Here she is still in her package.
And here she is removed from her packaging. She stands quite well.
Here's a close-up. I like her features and her hair.
Here she is with other Triad Alphas. My other Alphas are great, by the way. I have put them through rigorous posing, and have not had a problem with limbs that would not stay on. And they are some of the best posers that I have. I was really looking forward to having this new figure in my collection. I was happy that she had a different face. I was thrilled that they did not give her the hideous orange hair like the promo photos. I was thinking about all the different ways that I would pose her. But noooooooo, she can't do much more than just stand there posing her upper body in different ways.
Here are all of my Triad ladies.
Hopefully I can get a refund or a replacement. Posing is on hold until then.
I fell like I should open another doll now since this one was a disappointment. I'll open another one, but not today.
So sorry for your flawed doll and sorry you have to return to the post office, but you definitely need a replacement. I hope your replacement is flawless. I do like her face much better than some of the others.
ReplyDeleteTriad figures have issues, though. I have Triad Alpha Omega. Since day one his head will not stay on, so he gets very little manipulation from me. I returned the original one thinking that it was an isolated flaw, but the replacement has the same head falling off issue. SMH.
I had a similar leg falling off issue with an Otaku female, which has sworn me off these multiple articulated (androgynous looking) characters.

Thanks Debbie. I was looking at the 4 of my Triad ladies together and thinking about how 2 of them were defective. So does that mean that with every Triad figure that I purchase, I have a 50/50 chance of having to make a dreaded trip to the post office? THAT would be a deterrent to me purchasing more of these. I really want to support this company because there are not a lot of companies making dark skinned action figures, but I can't afford to spend my money and time on defective dolls.
DeleteMy Omega's head has fallen off 3 times in the years that I've had him. He gets little manipulation from me for a different reason: an ankle cup that broke soon after I got him. I used super glue and it's holding (for now). Yes, I agree that Triad figures have issues. My other Alphas are great, though, so I was hoping that Triad had worked out their issues. Apparently not.
that pic of them on the white couch is hilarious! The lady in black looks completely over it!
ReplyDeleteTeva that lady in black looks the way that I was feeling at that moment!
DeleteShame about the Triad action figure problem, Roxanne. I don't have any of them - just had less doll money when they hit the market. I like the first one's face, but the Otaku still looks scary to me ... like someone I would not want to encounter at night. Her eyes seem to stare so. Hope you get a refund or a replacement.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the post office out here is a pain because many offices have fewer open hours, several offices were closed, and the ones that remain open have long lines and sometimes nasty employees. Do you have similar problems?
P.S. Darn - keep forgetting - you won a Versatile Blogger Award. Congratulations!
Hi D7ana! Thanks so much for the Versatile Blogger Award! I am honored to be among the blogs that you've chosen.
DeleteThe post office... grrrrrr... There used to be one close to my neighborhood that was very pleasant to go to. Then it shut down, along with a bunch of others. Now I have to go to the post office downtown, deal with traffic, pay for parking, wait in a long line, deal with impatient workers, etc.
Scarey Starey says she's got her eye on you...
Girl, Girl,Girl, I could tell you some horror stories about me and the P.O. I think P.O. stands for pissed off! I can't leave there without felling that way! I went a week and a half without mail with my packages marked as delivered! Then they tell me that they had them and I could come pick them up! What the ... is that! If you have a problem with any other business they will give you something...anything...when they know that they are in the wrong. Not the P.O.! All they will give you is a bad attitude!
ReplyDeleteI hope things work out for you! I hope that they are able to do something for you about the doll. Let us know. It is good to know who give good customer service and who doesn't.
Ms. Leo I think you're right about what P.O. stands for! Ugh! It wasn't bad when post offices were plentiful, but now I have to go to the downtown P.O., which makes me P.O.'d in general!
DeleteI contacted the retailer and have received good customer service so far. I do not have to deal with the post office this time around, they sent me a UPS return label and I have already put my defective little friend in a package bound for the retailer, and they will be sending me a replacement.
I hope you can get a replacement.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mustiwait! The retailer offered my choice of a refund or a replacement, and I asked that they send me a replacement. I hope that I have better luck with the next one!
DeleteI was really laughing while reading this! I HATE GOING TO THE POST OFFICE TOO! lol but as much as I love her features too...she must go back. Too many flaws. I have to find out more about that award you won...but Congrats anyway!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the congrats, The grandmommy! I am honored that my blog was chosen.
DeleteI agree, too many flaws with that one. That broken leg was really the deal breaker, even though that split neck should have been, as well. I'm glad to know that we are united in our dislike for going to the post office!
I guess I don't go to the post office enough to detest it, lol, but it's never fun going there nonetheless. Hope you get a working replacement.
ReplyDeleteHi Muff! I don't go there often either, and that's because I detest it so much! I had one a short distance from where I lived, and I really liked that one. I used to ask that they hold my packages rather than leave them at my house, and I would go there and pick them up. I was on a first name basis with the manager. They closed that one down, and now I have to go downtown and have horrible experiences.
DeleteI was wondering why you hated going to the post office but having read all the comments I now know. (Our local post office acts as a bit of a community centre so we know the people there and often know the people in the queue so it is a place we enjoy going to.) I hope your replacement doll is worth all the trouble you have had to go to.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carrickters! Your local post office sounds quite nice.
DeleteIf you do a lot of shipping, it might be worth it for you to invest in a small postal scale and printing your shipping labels at home. Postal scales aren't expensive, and you get a discount for printing your own labels. 99% of every thing I ship, I do from home. Then I just drop them off. No lines, and no attitudes from overworked postal people. Glad to hear you didn't have to deal with them this time.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this information Vanessa! This is very good to know.
