It's Been A While

Over the past several months, my husband has asked me from time to time why I haven't used the camera that he bought me for my birthday yet.  My birthday was at the end of May.  I tried to keep the excuses fresh and relevant:
"It's too hot." - this one was my favorite for a while.
"I don't know how to use it yet."
"You're always asleep during the day and I take the best photos during daylight hours." - he works nights.
"I did use it, didn't I?" - ummmm, no I didn't.
"I plan on using it soon." - this was my second favorite.

The truth is, I lost most of the enjoyment that I get from dolls for a while.  I was going through something that felt overwhelming to me, and I even thought about selling some of my dolls.  The thought of selling my dolls was depressing, so I tried my best not to think about it.  So I barely looked at my dolls, because looking at them reminded me that I could be losing some of them soon.  The doll buying ceased for a few months.

Well, the doll-buying bug must have bitten me again, because I've bought 3 dolls in the past week.  I'll write about those soon, but first I want to catch up a little.  Here are photos that I took today of some dolls that I acquired back in June or July (they are still in the box - you know that's not like me at all).

Mattel's Die Another Day Jinx doll -  I'd been wanting this one for a while, and I was finally able to find her for a price I was willing to pay.

Bratz Catz Sasha doll - a head swap is coming her way.

Making Waves Alexis doll - a head swap is coming her way, also.

LIV Accessories - came free with the doll.  I don't have a LIV dog, so Only Hearts Club Briana Joy's dog Longfellow will receive the doggie fashion.

Only Hearts Club Big Sister Kayla Rae and Sydney dolls - I already had a Kayla Rae, but I wanted Sydney also.  I think that I should open this one and leave my other Kayla Rae boxed.  My husband thinks that I should open the other one and leave this one boxed.  What do you think?

So these are the first images that I have taken with my "new" camera.  I need practice.  All of the close-ups that I tried to take came out blurry.  I have more photos that I took today, but I will share those at another time.  I have more boxed dolls to share!  And then, let the deboxing commence!

  1. Welcome back :O) I think that you should free the sisters and leave the other boxed. Does the Sasha have an articulated body? I'm just being nosy and want to know who's getting new bodies?

We all need a break from time to time. I also want to know who else you picked up that restarted your doll love again :O)

    1. Thank you Dollz4Moi! Yes, the Sasha does have an articulated body, and that's the reason why I bought her. The Sasha body is going to Calista eventually, who currently has an articulated Sasha body that has suffered some wear and tear. the LIV body is going to HSM Taylor. I'll be writing about my recent purchases starting tomorrow. :)

  2. Roxanne, glad to see you back. I totally understand taking a break. I had to do the same thing. I can't wait to see the dolls that rejuvenated you.

I want the Halle doll so bad. I don't know why I passed her up every time I saw her available.

I agree with Dollz4Moi, debox Kayla Rae and Sydney and leave the other.one for the time being.

    1. Thank you Georgia Girl! It's good to be back. Yeah, I kept looking the other way on the Halle doll for a long time, thinking that I could find her cheaper. Then I noticed that the price on her seemed to be rising, and not falling. Thankfully I was able to get her for a reasonable price.

  3. Glad to see you posting again. Congratulations on your purchases. I bought a Bratz Cats Sasha in September for her articulated body but then I found out that the Bratzillas are articulated -- they don't have pivotal torsos like the Bratz Cats but they have feet! It creeps me out that the Bratz don't have feet so I took Bratz Cats Sasha back and will get a Bratzillas Sasha as soon as I can find one. Can't wait to see who gets your Bratz Cats Sasha body!

    1. Thank you limbe dolls! I saw the Bratzillaz dolls months ago at TrU, but left them there on the shelves. I probably would have bought Sashabella Paws if she had been on sale. I went back recently and they had none.

  4. What a great way to get back into dolls with several great purchases. I did know Kayla Rae came with a sister. I would debox the Sisters.

  5. It's so good to see a post from you. I missed you here, on FB, and on "the list."

Congratulations on your latest doll acquisitions.

I look forward to reading about and seeing the other dolls you have photographed.

    1. Thank you Debbie! I feel like I need to get caught up, but also feel like that's an impossible task. :) I'll just carry on from here. It's good to be back.

  6. Congratulations on the dolls! Sometimes that happen where you just have to set the dolls to the side and wait for them to grab you attention. You can stop and start whenever you like. I have families over here that have been waiting on their camera time and intros so I'm trying to get that done! Your doing it right by starting slow and getting back in the groove. Glad you're back!

    1. Thank you Brini! I had so many ideas and plans for stories before I took a break. I guess I'll have to just pick a few and go from there. I'm gonna take it slow! :)

  7. Glad to read your musings again. It's funny isn't it, that we have to remind ourselves that this is a hobby, you don't have to do it all the time, just do it when you enjoy it and take it slow. I'm glad your new dolls are giving you lots of enjoyment.

  8. Welcome back. Nothing like some great doll purchases to spark the interest again. Are your close up pictures blurry even when you have the macro setting selected?

    1. Thank you Vanessa! Sadly, I do not know what the macro setting is. I'll have to do some investigating. I did manage to take a close-up yesterday that was clear.

  9. Hi Roxanne,
Most of us (at least me) have these times than we sometimes realize we are grown ups and maybe this is not for us anymore, but at the same time we have it as a escape of the "cruel" reality. So, put this two hobbies together (dolls and photo) and enjoy! Welcome back :-)

  10. Roxanne! I didn't know you were back. So glad to see you here again. :)
It's exactly what I also need to do: make photos of many-many dolls, who are still in boxes, debox them and make photos again. lol. And then show them in my blog or maybe in both: Russian and English. I hope I'll have some time for my dolls soon, because we in Russia have New Year holidays in the beginning of the year.

  11. Thanks. Have a Happy New Year too. :)
Did you see several photos of my dolls in my very small English doll blog? http://dukasha.blogspot.ru/ I really need to post more photos there.
