Real Masterpiece Kevin Durant

I love finding great deals on dolls, but every now and then, I splurge. For me, Enterbay's Real Masterpiece Kevin Durant figure was a splurge. I tried to talk myself out of wanting him. I tried to let some time pass in the hopes that I would forget that I wanted him. Weeks later, I still wanted him. So, he's mine. I did find him at a slightly discounted price.

The box is large and heavy, which gave me the feeling of anticipation that I was in for a treat.

And I definitely was in for a treat. This figure comes with 2 head sculpts (a serious face and a posing face - both an amazing likeness), a 13" body with 30 points of articulation, 10 interchangeable hands, a Spalding basketball, an NBA MVP trophy, an authentic uniform with socks and sneakers, a pair of basketball tights, and a stand.

Here he is out of the box. My photos do not do him justice. The detail on this figure and his accessories are incredible. His 30 points of articulation allow him to pose very realistically, and he's able to hold his poses well.

Here's a close-up. The head sculpt is hand-painted with what is described as a newly developed "multi layer" paint application.

Here's a look at his second head sculpt. I was thinking of getting a second tall body for this sculpt, but I don't know if I want a figure to permanently have this expression on his face. On the other hand, I don't really see myself swapping out the head on this figure with any regularity, so I may as well get the extra body so that this head won't go to waste. What do you think?

His upper body has just enough articulation to pose naturally while remaining aesthetically pleasing. His torso has extremely detailed tattoos.

His lower body poses very well. He has double jointed knees and his joints are nice and stiff, so he can really hold a variety of poses very well. He can even hold a squatting position. The appearance of his double jointed knees does not bother me, but if they did I could simply put his basketball tights on him to cover them up.

Here he is holding his trophy. As with all of his accessories, the trophy is very realistic and detailed.

Here he is in a seated position. You can kind of see the NBA logo on one of his socks in this shot. I tried to get a good clear close-up of his socks and shoes, but failed. His shoelaces look real, but they are plastic (which is good for me because the older I get, the less patience I have for tiny doll shoelaces). Both socks have the NBA logo. His black socks have not stained his legs or feet.

Kevin is the tallest of my 1/6 scale guys. It looks to me like Darius Reid is looking a little sad in the photo below. Perhaps it's that he's not used to looking up at someone. Or could it be that he senses that his position as the favored doll in my collection is now tenuous at best?

My tall ladies are thrilled to have another tall guy around (and such a handsome one, at that).

Overall, I am thrilled with this figure. He is sturdy, well-made, realistic, aesthetically pleasing, and basically everything that I want in a doll. The only downside is that I will have to search very hard to find clothes for him to wear. I'll accept that challenge, though.

I am disappointed with my photos for this blog entry. Normally I think that my photos are okay for the purposes of this blog, but I really wish that I could show you the detail that I see when I look at this figure. I don't have the lighting or the equipment (or the skills) necessary to truly capture all of the details and the wonderful quality of this figure.

  1. A 100 watt daylight bulb will do wonders for pics - even better if you have 3 of them.

    He's a great looking figure.

    1. Thank you for the tip, Muff! I took these in an area that has 2 hanging overhead lights, and with an additional lamp. I do need brighter bulbs and additional lighting, though, if I want to improve the quality of my photos. Not to mention a new camera...

  2. He's extremely handsome! Now I want him... :( Especially with the height and detailed tattoos. Most action figures are shorter than the FR ladies. Glad to see a post from you but you have become an enabler.

    1. Thank you AG Lanc! Will you be able to resist? I wasn't (obviously). :) I'm glad that I caved in, though, and the FR ladies are glad as well.

  3. Sweet...congrats! When the desire is that strong, sometimes you just have to go for it. Excellent job on the face sculpts and the tattoos. His shoulders are throwing me off a little bit. I wouldn't mind having his regular head. If I just happen to run across one, I may be tempted to add him. Famous last words.

    1. Thanks Vanessa! I've slowed way down on the playline dolls (or at least I HAD slowed down until Mattel's latest offerings, but that's another story for another day), so I figure I can splurge every now and then. He does have some broad shoulders and it will be difficult to find clothes for him.

  4. Oh wow, he's a nice one - and that's a great bunch of option hands (and heads!). Looking forward to seeing more of him!

    1. Thanks jSarie! I'm sure that he'll be sharing his hands with other figures around here, especially since my other tall bodies did not come with relaxed hands.

  5. Congratulations to you!!! He is a handsome doll. I see why Darius is looking kind of sad. I have not seen this sculpt before. It is very clear why you chose him. The ladies in your town must be going nuts over him. I don't have enough guys for my girls, so there is no doubt that it would be hair pulling and everything in my dolly town. Lol! Great review as well. I see nothing wrong with your pictures.

    1. Thank you Georgia Girl! The ladies in my town are pretty excited! Some of my basketball playing guys are excited also. They want me to get another basketball goal that is actually 1/6 scale, but they can forget that. They will have to make due with Basketball Nakia's goal. :) I try my best to keep the ratio of males to females even here, so there's no hair pulling (good, because I don't want to do any reroots). My pictures just don't show all of the detail that I see, like with his tattoos. They are beautiful and I can read them, but that doesn't come through in the photos. And his shoelaces look so real that I didn't know they were plastic until I touched them. Stuff like that.

  6. WOW! I've never seen him before. Congrats! He is a great addition to you doll group. He is too tall for Ken clothes. Can he fit IT Homme clothes?

    1. Thank you Ms. Leo! Yep, he is way too big for Ken clothes. He can't fit IT Homme clothes. There is one sweater that I can get on him, but his arms are too long. I'm going to have to do more searching for clothes that he can wear.

  7. Wow, that's an impressive figure. He's a hottie, too. I'm kind of glad he's difficult to fit into clothes. I need at least one con to counter all the pros you listed...otherwise he might get added to my list- lol. Congrats on getting him!

  8. I agree that this guy is awesome! I have seen some clothes that are made for the Man of Steel body from Hot Toys which is a very large body. They might work for this guy. Not sure where you get them though. I think Hegamony makes clothes that fit them, but they are a tad expensive for my wallet. Good luck finding some stuff!

  9. Even though you weren't happy with the quality of your photos, it is obvious he is very detailed and his facial realism is amazing. I hadn't seen this doll before - and you are becoming an enabler.
