5 Years Ago Today

Five years ago today, I started this blog.  The dolls pictured below kicked off the celebration.

Today we're celebrating again at reaching this milestone.  Thank you all so much for reading, commenting, making suggestions, inspiring me, and motivating me!  Through this hobby, I'm encouraged to continually learn, grow, and improve.  It will be interesting to see where the next 5 years lead me.

I've created a video for this occasion.  It's a compilation video that includes some never before seen photos and video clips.  I am the one singing.  :)  If the video will not play for you, please click here.

  1. Congratulations! And thank you for persevering and sharing your dolls with us! Lots of great dolls in the video but of course I giggled every time there was a touching booty shot.

    1. Thank you, Muff! I tried to include some subtle humor for the grown ups, but of course had to include some booty grabbin' for the 12 year old boys in all of us.

  10. Congrats! May you have many more, happy, blogging years. I loved the video! It was well done, and it takes a lot of skill to have the scenes and the song in sync like that.

    1. Thanks so much Vanessa! It took every bit of patience within me to have the scenes sync with the music as well as they did. Overall, it was a fun process.

  11. Congratulation (again) Roxanne! I am so glad that WLBD members encouraged you to begin this blog, which has enriched my appreciation for playscale dolls and action figures. Without you and D7ana, I'd never branched out into this area of collecting. Here's to several more wonderful blogging years.

    1. Thank you, Debbie! I'm so appreciative of you and WLBD members for encouraging me every step of the way. Before joining WLBD, I had never even really photographed my collection, and the first photos that I took were at the request of members there. I remember you giving me suggestions on how to make my photos better. Being a member there helped to prepare me for blogging. And when I posted Calista's first diary entry there, I thought at the time that there would only be 1, but through the encouragement of the group I kept going. I'm looking forward to the years to come!

    1. Thank you Brini! I went back and read my first blog post, and I laughed out loud at myself for saying back then that I thought that I was slowing down on adding new dolls to my collection. I may have slowed down for a little while, but my collection continues to grow and grow.

  13. Just thought of you today. The song, "You gotta be" by Des'Ree was just on the radio and it sounded so much like you! :-D

    1. The grandmommy, I'm so flattered that you think that I sound like Des'ree! I guess I tend to imitate people when I sing their songs. My voice has a bit of a raspy quality to it that I usually try to downplay when I'm singing, but I was deliberate about letting that quality come through on this song so that I would sound more like Des'ree. Thank you!

    1. Thank you limbe dolls! I hadn't thought of what I'm doing as puppetry until reading your comment, but I like the idea that I'm using technology to continue an ancient tradition of storytelling.
