Dolls and Karaoke

The past 3 months have been crazy at work, and I haven't been doing much with my hobbies. I have a work project that's coming to an end. so I have a little bit more time to play. I haven't been playing with dolls much, though. I have been singing. Karaoke style. Online and in real life. So what could be better than combining 2 hobbies that you love? I've done it before, I'll do it again. :) I recorded the song below on SingSnap, which now allows slideshows. Photos of my dolls are in the slideshow. I haven't taken many new photos, so most of these are old, but many of them you've never seen before. I've also added a Karaoke tab to the top of this page that will eventually contain all of the posts where I include myself singing. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! :)

Awwwwww, most of these couples didn't make it, but some of these relationships did manage to stand the test of time. Most of the ones that broke up have moved on (some multiple times), some have since gotten married, some are destined to reunite.

Back to Brooklyn Remi

I've had Remi for about 3 years, and today I decided to debox him.

He is handsome and tall with well-made clothes and accessories. His mohawk is a little off-center, which bothers me a little. His hair is rooted down the middle and flocked on the sides. I would have preferred the previous Remi with the afro.

This is not how I personally would have chosen to dress him, but I kind of like his attire. I really like his jacket. His T-shirt snaps partially up the back. The pockets on his pants are real, but he can barely get his hands into them because they are so tight. Remi's hands are removable, which makes redressing him easier.

As he was trying on his hat and jacket, Janay wanted to come by and say hello. Remi thought that she looked a little cold in that dress, so being the gentleman that he is, he offered his jacket and hat to her.

Other Fashion Royalty friends came by to say hello and welcome Remi out of his box. Remi is about the same height as Darius Reid, so he's a tall guy.

Remi's pants come unsnapped when he sits down. Adele and Darius didn't stay long.

Below, Remi shows off his articulation. He did not come with these underwear, they are borrowed. He is jointed at the elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles. His chest articulation allows him to bend slightly from side to side. He can also bend forward very slightly, but he can't hold that pose.

 Janay decided to help Remi show off his articulation.

Remi has great balance and is able to hold poses really well, even while holding up Janay.

Remi finds it much easier to sit without his tight pants.

Overall, I think that Remi is a great figure and I am glad that I was able to get him. I can live with his off-center hair, which is really my only gripe. His body is well-sculpted and I love his articulation. Janay is thrilled that I've finally released him from his cardboard prison, and I think that they make a stunning couple.

I won the Monster High Student Lounge set from Brini's Doll Domain. My Monster High dolls love it, and so do I!

When the package arrived in the mail last week, I had a huge grin on my face (like Clawdia)!

Things have been a bit hectic around here, so I wasn't able to open the package right away. The dolls took matters into their only claws.

What's this? A little something unexpected in the box, and it's just for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH BRINI! It's beautiful, and I love it!

Here's a couple of shots of the front and back of the boxed Student Lounge set.

The playset includes "vending" machine, working oozeball table with two brain balls, sofa, miniature laptop, iTomb and ghoulish snacks

Howleen decides to have a snack while checking out the laptop. Clawdia is not having much luck finding snacks in the vending machine (I did not stock it with all of the little goodies that came with the set). Clawdeen takes a turn on the game table, but it's not much fun playing alone. Clawd pretends to be interested in the books on the shelf.

Clawd invites his ghoulfriend Sashabella Paws to join him in a game of oozeball.

They all love the student lounge so much that they use it for other forms of recreation, like playing music together. 

They can't wait to share the student lounge with my other teens. They, of course, had to try it out first. :)

Thanks again, Brini! This came at such a perfect time. I have been stressing over work issues that I have little control over, so it felt good to give myself an enjoyable diversion. I appreciate you so much!

My Kenner Dana doll has a lot to celebrate in the new year. Today is her first day out of her box.

When I was a child, I had Dana's friend Darci. Darci was my favorite fashion doll because she could do more poses than my other dolls. I didn't know that Dana even existed until I was an adult. The 10 year old inside of me was gleeful as I removed Dana from her box. Here she is standing for a pose. She can stand without assistance in her shoes, but it is difficult to balance her.

She sits quite well.

And she does other moves well, also.

She has clicky arms and legs, and articulation at her waist. 

Her legs click 4 times, and her arms click once. Unfortunately, my doll can no longer hold her right arm in a bent position. Her right hand can hold objects.

She's ready to return to her celebration with her new friend.

Le Smoking Adele Makeda

The latest doll to join my collection is the 2014 Fashion Royalty Gloss Convention Le Smoking Adele Makeda.

I had been wanting an Adele with this face sculpt for years, and when I saw this doll, I knew that she would be the one.

She is wearing an ivory satin pant suit. She comes with gold earrings, a gold watch, a pair of gold high-heeled shoes, a white fur stole, and an extra set of hands. Her long black hair is pulled back into a thick ponytail. She has rooted lashes. She can stand without assistance in her shoes.

Here's a look at her articulation. She is jointed at the wrists, elbows, and knees. Her torso has two points of articulation, and she can both bend and rotate. Her legs rotate slightly at the hip. Her hands are fairly easy to remove, which is quite convenient when removing her clothing and redressing her.

Adele is tall. She towers over most of the 1/6 scale male dolls and action figures in my collection. In her heels, she is nearly as tall as Darius Reid, who has shown immediate interest in her.

She can cross her legs at the ankle when seated.

I think that she and Darius are going to have a relationship. I suspect that things will go better for Darius with this Adele than they did with the previous Adele.

Adele has made other friends here as well, and she is quite happy that there are music lovers such as herself here. Pictured in the photo below from left to right are Adele (#1), Janay (#1), RuPaul, Janay (#2), and Adele (#2).

These Integrity Toys/Fashion Royalty ladies take a few moments to jam. They are in a festive holiday spirit.

 

Overall, I am thrilled with this doll. She is beautiful, I am pleased with her articulation. I love it that she has an extra set of hands and that she can grasp and hold objects. I love it that she can stand and pose in her shoes, but I would love it if she could stand without shoes/wear various heel heights.
