A Tall Falcon

Meet Samuel Wilson.

He is known elsewhere as The Falcon, but here he is no superhero. The Hot Toys Falcon was a bit more than what I wanted to pay, so I picked up this handsome head only. He let me know that if he couldn't be a superhero, he at least wanted to be tall. So, I made up my mind to get him a tall body one day. His head has been languishing in my drawer of forgotten heads since last year.

When I recently removed myself from my doll buying hiatus, one of the first things I did was buy one of the Coo Model tall bodies for Sam.

The figure is well made and the joints are tight. He poses well, and comes with 7 hands (none of them are relaxed hands, unfortunately). His legs have an extra segment, which gives him his extra height.

I put Sam's head on, and I was a little disappointed. The body is a little darker than the head, and the head doesn't sit on the neck quite right. I looked around for something that would cover his neck a bit, and tried this ill-fitting suit on him. Not a good look.

Tobias tried to hide, but I saw him with that suit that was slightly too large. I decided to swap suits between the two of them. Below, Samuel shows off the shirt and slacks. It doesn't look bad on him at all, and I'm happy that the shirt covers his neck.

Here he is fully suited.

Tobias is not a happy camper at all. One of these days, I will buy him something fabulous to wear. Meanwhile, Samuel is thrilled with his attire.

Here is a quick height comparison between Samuel and some of my other figures. From left to right (and shortest to tallest) they are: GI Joe Colin Powell, Triad Omega, Samuel, Remi, and Scottie Pippen.

Samuel is about the same height as the taller Fashion Royalty ladies.

Samuel prefers to hang out with the fashionable crowd, but he wants it to be known that he can hold his own in any action-packed situation, should the need arise.

  3. Welcome Samuel. Poor Tobias. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long for a nice outfit. He deserves to be with the in crowd, too. I have a Falcon head, too. I wish his head was a tad bigger.

    1. Thanks Vanessa! Yep, I have it on my agenda to find something nice for Tobias to wear. I wouldn't mind Falcon's head being a little larger, especially with this body.

    2. I just saw him on the show, The Chew. He really has a small head in real life, so I guess it's true to form. That makes me feel a little better.

    3. It's nice to know that his 1/6 scale counterpart is realistic in the small head department. :)

  4. Samuel is fine! I'm sure he'll hold his own anywhere. I have a head or two lying around waiting for bodies so I'll check out Coo Model. I'm with Tobias....give him a new outfit before the tension builds between he and Samuel. "Come taking my suit!"

    1. Hi Benova! I'll try my best to alleviate the tension between the two. :) Hopefully I'll be able to find Tobias something to wear soon.

  5. He looks good, even even the neck isn't quite perfect. :)

I'd never thought to try hybridization Hot Toys sculpts, but that's a great idea (and a great way to save money)!

    1. Thanks jSarie! Hot Toys makes such beautiful figures, but many of them cost much more than I'm willing to pay! I like finding the heads on eBay. :)

  7. Poor Tobias... he was done so wrong.

I am glad for Sam that he has his desired height, but doesn't he know that being tall will limit his wardrobe.

As usual, I loved the comparisons and commentary.

    1. Tobias will get over it. :) That suit was too short for him anyway, so he should of just handed it over with a joyful heart. I'm working on finding something for Tobias.

I had Samuel next to me at the computer, and my husband said "He looks like Dez Bryant". So there were some confused looks from me because I had no idea who that was, and I figured (correctly) that it was some athlete that I've never heard of. I said "He looks like The Falcon to me" and I handed Samuel to my husband. My husband immediately began to pull on the bottom of his slacks to cover his ankles. He does not approve of these slacks on Samuel. LOL

    2. My daughter is in love with Dez Bryant. Yuck, I say. Your guy looks exactly like the Falcon (whatever the actor's name is).

I can see your husband trying to cover Samuel's ankles.

  9. Samuel looks very cool even if his head doesn't fit well, it doesn't show with the white shirt (that looks pretty awesome on him!). I'm scared of head transplants ever since I broke a dolls neck trying to do one LOL!

    1. Thanks Linda! I'm pleased with his looks in that white shirt, but just knowing what his neck looks like underneath bothers me. LOL! He has a nice body, he should be able to show it off every now and then. I've had a couple of mishaps transplanting heads, but the results are worth the risk. :) I say that now, but I know that I would cry bitter bitter tears if I ever broke a Fashion Royalty or Hot Toys figure.

  10. First of all, Samuel is very handsome whether or not he is a super hero! I also got the Hot Toys head of The Falcon and put him on a tall and dark COO Model body. I had the same problem with how his head fits. I do have a supply of different neck knobs, so will probably try to find a shorter one for him. I did have a pair of the dark AA relaxed hands from another body I had purchased and used them for my Falcon. Oh, and while the color is not a perfect match between the head and body, I think it is pretty good and you don't notice it so much when he is dressed.

    1. Hi Phyllis! I'd like to see how the shorter neck knob works out. I wonder if I have any extras around here. I know that a couple of my figures came with an extra neck, so maybe I can get a knob from one of those. I agree that the color difference isn't that big of a deal when he's dressed. I just want him to be perfect. LOL! I'll keep working on him, I guess.

  15. Your Falcon head is nice! I love how he looks in the white shirt. I need to find some bodies to fit my GI Joe heads. I purchased them a couple of years ago and they are still staring me down on my bookcase. Lol!

    1. Hi D7ana! I'm glad to see you back! Yep, I'm glad that I had the option to just buy the head. I didn't need The Falcon's wings or any of his other gear.

  17. I don't blame your for buying the head only, I have my eye on Wesley Snipes/Blade. I tried to get my son to buy it for me but he said he was only buying me one "doll" and he wasn't the one, lol. It always hard finding a body to match the skintone but he still looks good.

    1. Thank you, Brini! I hope that you're able to get the Blade head that you want one day soon. The Hot Toys Blade looks amazing. At the time that one was released, though, I already had a Blade action figure that looks close enough to Wesley Snipes for my taste.

  18. Poor Tobias. He should have hidden better.

The skintone matching is definitely hard to do. But at least it was close enough for now.

    1. Hi Jaye! Tobias could hide, but he couldn't run. :) I think I'm just about over the skin tone issue. I think I'm going to try to do something about his neck, though. Here's hoping that I don't ruin a perfectly good action figure over a minor modification.
