Blogging on the Go

This is my first attempt at posting to my blog from my cell phone. Here are my dolls at work feeling festive.

    1. They are ready, but not as ready as I am!

My husband installed Google Chrome on my phone, and I had been viewing blogs from my phone while away from home for a while. This is the first time I've tried actually posting to my blog from my phone. The voice recognition on my phone works pretty well, so I didn't have to enter much text by hand (it thought that I said "dogs" instead of "dolls", but that is the only correction that I had to make). Pretty cool!

  2. Not bad! My pictures form my tablet are really bad but I might post a few. I might be worried about coworkers handling my dolls. I guess you don't have that worry. They look like they are having fun!

    1. Thanks Ms. Leo! This was my third attempt at getting a decent shot. I think that this will come in handy though if I'm out and about and have a sudden need to blog. :)

My desk at work is also known as the "isle of misfit dolls". Coworkers have occasionally handled my dolls, but I'm not that concerned about that with these particular dolls. The dolls that I don't want handled by others stay at home.

  3. I used to have a couple of dolls at my desk (I had some of the Ty dolls like your little blonde guy in the middle). My boss told me to remove them as they were not business appropriate! When I was on a disability leave, I came back and she had put the pictures of my kids and my silk plants in my cabinet as she said they were a distraction for anyone who might want to sit at my desk in my absence. Of course, everyone else around me was still able to display theirs.

Sorry I got off on this tangent, because I feel you ought to be able to personalize your desk as long as it is in good taste (and a few dolls is OK in my book!) Glad you are able to express yourself!

    1. Hi Phyllis! Wow, it sounds like you boss had a problem! Some people at my company go to great lengths to decorate their cubicles and offices. At certain times of the year, the decorations are quite elaborate. It's nice when I feel stressed out to be able to look over at my dolls or take a few seconds to pose them to calm me. I had to take short term disability for a few weeks back in May without warning, and when I came back my dolls were pretty much as I'd left them. I would have been pissed if someone had moved my stuff into drawers.

Sorry that you had to work for an individual who would not let you personalize your work space the way that you wanted. We spend so much of our time at work, you'd think that bosses would want their workers to be comfortable. It seems to me that it would only improve productivity.

  4. Yay, Roxanne, working the new technology! Cute photo and I can understand how there are dolls that you wouldn't want others touching. (I laughed at Ms. Leo's statement that she couldn't stand co-workers touching her dolls. I'd be like that, too.)

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks D7ana! In my household, I am in charge of the computers, and my husband is in charge of all other technology. I am slow to embrace all of the features of cell phones. Google Chrome was on my phone probably for months before I really started using it. I'm really starting to do much more with my phone since the voice recognition works so well. I hate having to touch tiny buttons on the phone or screen in order to type out messages.

  6. I remember a long time ago I had a receptionist temp job around Christmas time and I was the only one out front and all the other offices were in the back. I put this teeny little troll doll on my desk behind some other equipment and trays and you could only see it if you were sitting at my desk. Soon after, the boss calls a meeting and tells everyone that even though it's Christmas and whatnot, please don't put personal items on our desks and to not be so festive in talking about the holidays. What a Scrooge McDuck.

You are lucky you can leave dolls on your desk. I get the idea that they think people are goofing off or making "clutter," but I think if you're more relaxed in your surroundings, then you are more productive.

    1. Oh wow, Muff, your Scrooge McDuck ex-boss would blow a gasket at my place of employment. It is EXTREMELY festive right now. Teams have come together to decorate entire cubicle bays. It is a winter wonderland for sure, with fake snow, arches, walkways, snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, Christmas trees, lights, and all kinds of decorations! I've never worked for a company that did not have festivities during this time of year. I had never really given it a thought before, but now I do feel fortunate that I can have dolls on my desk. It's something that I took for granted, but now I feel appreciative.
