She Got Game

Basketball is my favorite sport. I love the way they dribble up and down the court.

Calista's Diary Entry - Passing Notes

Dear Diary,

Today in class Bob passed me a note that said "I like you, do you like me?" and it had checkboxes for "Yes" and "No".

I thought it was so cute and so corny that I giggled out loud a little. I was just about to check the "Yes" box when I saw the teacher Mr. Smith looking at me. :( He said in his booming voice "Calista, would you like to share with the class what you find so humorous?". I said "No, sir." He told me to bring my notes to him at the front of the classroom. I looked down as I walked, but I still saw Bob covering his face with his hands and I knew that he was just as embarrassed as I was. As I walked, I kept saying over and over in my head "Please don't read the note out loud! Please don't read the note out loud!" Well Mr. Smith read the note out loud. Then he explained to the class that we are not to pass notes to one another while class is in session.

I walked back to my seat as my classmates giggled. Needless to say, I was teased all day, mainly by Kana and Briana Joy. They kept telling me that I need a cell phone, and I agree! If I had a cell, then Bob would've been able to text me and this never would have happened! I'm going to beg my parents for a cell until they finally see things my way.

TTL Height Comparison

Here is the TTL body with a Power Team figure, G.I. Joe, an Ultimate Soldier, and a DiD body (different head). The TTL body is taller than G.I. Joe and the Ultimate Soldier, shorter than the Power Team figure, and about the same height as the DiD body.

Here is the TTL figure with my tall guys - Scottie Pippen, Triad Omega, and Darius Reid.

New TTL Brown Body

My new TTL action figure body arrived today. I ordered the brown body (the choices were light, brown, and black). It is short compared to other male action figure bodies, but I am pleased with the articulation and the ability to hold poses.

The only bothersome flaw that I see is a small crack above the left ankle cup. I will be sealing it promptly!

My DiD Barack Obama thinks that this would be a good replacement body if he ever decides that he wants to wear short-sleeved shirts.

Vincent and William are having a discussion about which one of them will get the new body. I think it's gonna be Vincent.

I'm going to order more of these in black!

What Time Is It?

It's time to welcome a new member to the crew! This is a new Power Team action figure that I purchased at Big Lots. This is a great figure for the money!

Here comes the welcoming committee.

I also purchased a Celebrate Disco Barbie. She is staying in her box for now.

Thanks Debbie!

Calista's Diary Entry - Eighties Day

Dear Diary,

School started last week and everything had been going fine, until today. :(

This week is Spirit Week, which is supposed to get everyone in school fired up for our first big game. Each day of Spirit Week has a theme, and today's theme was Eighties Day, so everyone was supposed to dress up in Eighties fashions. Skipper loaned some of the girls some vintage clothing for the day. I don't know how such a young girl has such old clothing, but that's another story.

Everything was great until Mikey embarrassed me in front of everyone! He jumped in front of me and yelled "your Jheri curl's a SCARY CURL!" And he laughed, and others laughed, even my so-called friends. I just stood there for what seems like forever, and I felt my face get very hot. Then Bob got in Mikey's face and started making jokes about Mikey's mama. That made everyone laugh and got the attention away from me. I feel like I should thank Bob but I feel too humiliated to bring it up.

Calista's Diary Entry - Uniformity

9/4
Dear Diary,

Today I saw Bob in his uniform for the first time. Now I'm beginning to understand what my aunt means when she says that there's just something about a man in uniform. **giggle** I think he kinda likes me in my uniform too. :-))))))))))

Calista's Diary Entry - Practice Makes Perfect

8/29
Dear Diary,

I have been practicing quite a bit with the Junior Spirit Squad and it is even more difficult than I thought it would be, but I've learned that I am even better at this than I ever gave myself credit for. I can do the splits better than any of the other girls! Our coach says that it's not about who can do what the best, it's about working together as a team to best showcase each of our own unique talents. Hmmmm, ok. I'm just glad that I can do something better than Kana. She shows off a lot if you ask me.

Calista's Diary Entry - Second Chances

8/27
Dear Diary,

One of the girls backed out, so I get to take her spot on the Junior Spirit Squad!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! I had been pretty bummed out that my friends had made the squad but not me. My mom and dad reassured me and told me that no one can be the best in EVERYTHING. Sure, maybe Kana is more flexible than me and maybe she can dance better, but can she solve Calculus problems like I can? They did make me feel better, but I still felt left out. Well not anymore!

We got our uniforms today. We're still working out the footwear. LOL!

Calista's Diary Entry - The Dinner

8/23
Dear Diary,

Today Mr. and Mrs. Scout invited my family over for dinner. They said that they wanted to get to know us better since we are new in town. I appreciate them being so neighborly. When we got there, the food smelled soooooo good and I was excited when I saw the table setting. Then they served McDonalds to the kids.... WHAT?!!! THEY get to eat a 3-course meal served on the good dishes and WE get burgers and fries? Not fair! I'm too old for Happy Meals anyway. But then, Bob gave me the toy from his Happy Meal. Now I truly know why they call them "Happy" meals. **grinning** I hope that the Scouts invite us back over for dinner soon.

Calista's Diary Entry - The Playhouse

8/22
Dear Diary,

My dad has been working on a project in his spare time. He has been helping to build a playhouse for the local children. They are building the house at the park. We went by there tonight to check it out. Bob was already at the park when we arrived.

Bob asked my dad if he could help with the construction. Bob said that he wants to improve his carpentry skills because those skills will really come in handy when he is an adult and has his own house. I want to help paint and decorate the house. Later, some kids came by and they already want to start hanging out in the house. Some of them are too old to be hanging out in a playhouse if you ask me, but whatever.

Calista's Diary Entry - The Swap

8/5
Dear Diary,

Today I saw some cute clothes online and I begged and begged my parents to get them for me, but they wouldn't. Dad says that the economy is bad and that we all have to cut back and make sacrifices. Mom says that we can get a few items later on. I really REALLY want some more clothes for when school starts and I had an idea. I called some of my friends and we had a clothes swapping party! So I got rid of some stuff that didn't fit, and got new (well not NEW, but DIFFERENT) clothes for myself.

After we were done, I suggested that we go hang out near the park in our new outfits. I knew that Bob would be there practicing. *teehee*

Calista's Diary Entry - The Tryout

8/1
Dear Diary,

Today I tried out for the school's dance team, but I didn't make it. I couldn't do the moves right! UGH!!! Bob keeps staring at me. I think that he has a little crush! *giggle* He is kinda cute in his tight shirts. My new BFF's Kana and Brianna tease me about it. They say that I should be his GF, but I told them that my parents won't let me date until I'm 16. They think my parents are too strict.

Calista's Diary Entry - The Arrival

7/28
Dear Diary,

Today my family moved into our new home. I am sad that we had to move away from our old home. I will miss all of my friends at Green Meadow school. My mom and dad said that I will make new friends. They just don't understand! Well, actually I did make some new friends, but I still miss my old ones. The people here a very nice. I wonder what my new school will be like?

Let's Celebrate!

So I've finally started my blog! Woohoo! Time to celebrate!

I'm Roxanne and I've been a doll collector as an adult for 20 years now. I had dolls as a child, but unfortunately none of my childhood dolls made it into adulthood with me. This was mainly because of my brother, niece, and nephew, who were extremely rough with my toys. Also my mother would donate my toys to charity from time to time. And sometimes I just played with my own toys a little too roughly.

My collection began when I purchased a Barbie in 1989 at the age of 19. At first, I only added maybe 1 doll every year or two. But in 1998, I started ordering dolls from the internet and my collection grew by leaps and bounds. I am now at a point where I have begun to slow down with adding new dolls to my collection (I think). My collection consists mostly of 1/6 scale dolls and action figures, and most of them are Black.

The purpose of this blog is to show photographs of my dolls in the sometimes humorous situations that they find themselves in, to show the progress that I make on my projects, and to talk about dolls and doll-related issues.

Now, back to the celebration!
